Michelle was born in Ontario and moved to Alberta when she was 13 . Michelle studied professional cooking and worked in catering for many years; she then changed careers to banking.

Michelle married her husband Anthony in 2008 and started their family. Michelle became a widow in 2019 when her husband died by suicide.
